The two get married, generate a son, and go to live in Agrigento, in a house that Giovanni buys with his savings. The colleague of Giovanni: Giulio Wanzer, is determined to ruin his life, and has a love affair with Ginevra. Giovanni does not realize it, and begins to suspect something only when the character of Ginevra changes and becomes more cruel and aggressive.
